Shidonni

Shidonni is an excellent interactive website that allows children to create an animated animal and it's world using drawing tools.

Watch the video below to learn more about Shidonni:

There are many oppurtunites for integrating Shidonni into the classroom:

- For younger students, the program will develop their use of a mouse and keyboard and introduce them to drawing software.

- For older students it can be used as a story starter.  Students can write stories about the world they create and their animal.

-  Also, Shidonni features a teacher dashboard with a variety of lesson plans and worksheets.

Hi, Anne.
I really like the tool & it's potential for integration in art, science, language studies. I signed up, but in reviewing the Terms of Service had a couple of issues:
First, how can a teacher use the materials in front of a class given the provision:
"8. In no event are you allowed to insert changes, reproduce, copy, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, perform, advertise, sell any information item, software or services provided on this Web Site. You may however print out paper copies of information on this Site for your personal use."

Also, I was concerned that in section 11 of the Terms of Use, the site seems to abrogate any responsibility for inappropriate behavior by a 3rd party:“STATEMENTS OR CONDUCT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE”. While I can understand that Shidonni may not want to actively police all account activity, it seems that since this website is structured for children, that the site should have a reporting policy for users/parents as well as some assurance that given complaints a problematic 3rd party would be removed.
