Music Makers

There are lots of great websites out there for creating music:

pianoMy favorite is Aviary's music creator - Choose instruments, and draw them on a page of empty circles.  Try it out and you will see what I mean...
Here is a simple song I literally created in under a minute.  Imagine what could be done with more time...
Sketch Music- Create music using a sketch pad.  Draw with the piano, drums, clarinet, or trumpet.  Click on the composer to hear your drawing.  From the site Creating Music.
Play A Piano- Play a digital piano using your keyboard or mouse.
Audio Tool- Make music from your web browser, connect with other users, remix other peoples tunes.
Audacity- free program for recording and editing sounds.

I also found an excellent collection of music makers on cyber-kap.blogspot.com
Soundation - Very easy to use w/ a drag/drop interface for creating some excellent sounding music.
Jam Studio - A fun site that lets users select a "key" to play in and then a theme to match it to.
Loop Labs - A little bit of a higher learning curve then most online sites but w/ a nice time line editor.
Your Spins - A great site for mixing prerecorded music and then sharing w/ others.
Indaba - Is a unique site where people can create collaborative music pieces to make one final product.
Creating Music - A fantastic website to show kids how to create digital music. Very user friendly!!
Contrapunctus Variations - A wonderful site for creating orchestral type music by selecting an instrument and clicking on a time line.
iNudge - A very fun site for kids who make music by drawing shapes.
Glitchscape - Create sound by drawing vector shaped rectangles.

Voice Thread

VoiceThread is a unique way to share images, documents, and videos. When you upload an image, document or video, you can comment on it using a phone, microphone, webcam, by typing a comment, or by uploading another file. You can even doodle on it while commenting. If you share your voice thread others can also comment on it.

Here is a sample voice thread:

Visit Voicethread 4 Education for some examples of how to use voicethread in the classroom.

Creaza

Creaza is a website featuring four excellent tools for creating mind-maps, cartoons, animated movies, and audio recordings. You can register for the free version which is great and if you want more themes and other features you can contact Creaza to upgrade to a premium version. I was especially impressed with the cartoon and audio tools. There are endless possibilites with using this technology in the classroom to enhance learning.

Here is a You Tube Video that gives a nice overview of Creaza:
